Learn SUP Paddleboarding on Maui

Catching waves is the next step for the students. www.mauisportsunlimited.comSUP Stand up paddle boarding is hugely popular.  It works on lakes, oceans, and even rivers too. SUP is great for Socializing, Fitness, and a great way to experience the outdoors too. Try it once and it might open the doors for many new adventures and experiences in your life. One great appeal about Standup paddle boarding is that no previous experience is required, and you do not have to be super fit to give it a try. It is much less demanding than regular surfing. Therefore it appeals to all ages, young and old. This makes it a great activity that families can share together.

Our Stand up paddle surfing (SUP) lessons begin on flat water, where you can learn to get your balance on the SUP-board. Stand-up boards are longer and wider than surfboards, which makes them more stable.  SUPboards can be ridden sitting, kneeling, or standing up, so some initial balance practice is covered. We use the paddle for propulsion and steering. We show you different types of strokes to help you stop and turn. SUP lessons are lots of fun, and a great way to tour the reef too.

All ages and sizes can do Standup paddling. www.mauisportsunlimited.comOnce you have your balance, SUPing is a very pleasant way to tour the ocean, and to explore the reefs. If you are feeling more adventurous, you can try to catch some small waves. Our location has some gentle surf that is easy to ride. Most people will be fully satisfied (and exhausted) after their  SUP Lesson. In the SUP lessons we supply all the equipment. We have different of sizes to accommodate different people. Example; Bigger folks will need a thicker board with  more flotation. Advanced SUP surfers can choose a smaller more maneuverable board that turns faster.

Group Lessons:

Standup land lesson precedes the water session. www.mauisportsunlimited.comEvery “standup session” begins with a brief land lesson to discuss technique, safety and theory. Then we practice some of the skills you will need in the water. We start close to shore on the calmer water until you get comfortable with balance and steering. Each class is small and personal. We go at your own pace, slow and steady, or as fast as you can assimilate the information.
